Who We Are

Ethicon Credit Union was first chartered in December 1978 as Lumite Credit Association on the credit union principle of "people helping people." Lumite Credit Association was established to serve the employees and their immediate family of the Chicopee plant in Cornelia. After nine months in business, the Chicopee plant management announced the closing of the company. The facility was sold to Ethicon, a division of Johnson & Johnson. The management of Ethicon agreed to sponsor the credit union and in March 1980 the credit union's name was changed to Ethicon Credit Union. The credit union experienced many changes over the next few years. We have existed solely for the purpose of serving our members' best interests. This focus on members instead of profits allows us to offer a full range of financial services specifically designed to meet our members' needs and provide substantial savings.

A voluntary board of directors administers Ethicon Credit Union and establishes and reviews policy. The Directors are credit union members who are elected by the membership and serve without pay.
